Man Faces extradition proceedings for fraud

A Greek man yesterday began facing extradition proceedings after the Maltese authorities received a European arrest warrant against him because he is wanted in Austria to face criminal proceedings for fraud.

Kanstantinos Alexander Anastasiou, 36, who has Austrian and Greek dual nationality, is wanted in Austria for several charges including fraud, embezzlement and swindling.

Mr Anastasiou was remanded in custody pending the continuation of his extradition proceedings.

Police superintendent Peter Paul Zammit, police inspector Noel Cutajar and assistant Attorney General Donatella Frendo Dimech prosecuted while Dr Giannella Caruana Curran is assisting the accused.
