A woman was yesterday accused of misappropriating more than Lm1,000 in cash as well as medical documents to the detriment of her elderly mother.

The 51-year-old woman from Gudja, was accused of misappropriating her mother’s possessions on 22 June and the preceding months. The woman’s name cannot be mentioned by court order because the woman’s surname made her identifiable and also because the case was purely family-related. Even her mother’s name cannot be mentioned by court order.

Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna heard the woman plead not guilty to the charges brought against her. She was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm1,000.

Police inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted.
