Malta Independent Saturday, 1 July 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

As the end of the TV season drew near, the Brainbox team enjoyed the afternoon together with the press, clients and resident programme guests at the Med Bar, Westin Dragonara. The end-of-season celebration, courtesy of Gato Negro wines, was held to commemorate the end of a successful TV year for the brainbox team who were have been very busy with their prime time success Mhux bic-Cajt hosted by Eileen Montesin, the daily programme 118 and 118 Wines presented by John Demanuele and the Saturday morning breakfast show Hallini Norqod hosted by Valerie Vella.

“From Mhux bic-Cajt wishes and travels, to 118 wine events and home renovations, our production teams have managed to attract a substantial amount of the audience share for their respective programmes and time bands. One must also congratulate Brainbox hosts for this season, Eileen Montesin, John Demanuele, Valerie Vella and Frank Zammit who were significant in the Brainbox success. In various surveys, each programme excelled in its own right. Mhux bic-Cajt, which hit a peak audience share on a Sunday night was also voted as the most popular new programme on Television Malta just a few weeks after the October schedule commenced. The previously once a week home show 118, flourished into a pre-news daily programme proving to be a crowd puller in this time slot. The Saturday morning breakfast show Hallini Norqod also managed to attract a very rewarding amount of viewers in such an innovative time slot,” said Sabrina Mulligan, Brainbox director.

With current productions coming to an end, the Brainbox team have now launched their new prime time show starting Tuesday 1 August at 8.30pm on TVM called HU. Host Frank Zammit will be travelling to eight European capitals with a 500 euro budget (Lm214.50). Relying mainly on his natural talents including juggling, singing, fire-eating, bongo-playing and telling a couple of jokes, the talented upcoming star has been challenged to complete the series with more than his initial 500 euros. Time is not on his side though as during this first series Frank has to complete his 8-country challenge in just 240 hours. During each 30-minute episode, viewers will be able to send Frank SMSs and emails giving him their suggestions as to how to complete the route in such a short time with such a limited budget, while competing for some great prizes.

Meanwhile, the Brainbox team has started work on the TV broadcast season for October. Although names of productions, time bands and hosts have not yet been revealed, Brainbox promises its loyal viewers another fantastic season.

“We would like to thank our clients, resident programme guests and technical crew who were a very important factor in each programme’s success. Year after year, TV productions have proved to be one of the strongest marketing media possible, therefore we look forward to new marketing campaigns, brand launches and innovative ideas for advertising during our productions”.

The 240-hour challenge HU starts on 1 August at 8.30pm on TVM.
