The Union Haddiema Maghqudin agrees with the Labour Party on the problems of illiteracy, which should be addressed as a matter of urgency, said UHM secretary-general Gejtu Vella.

Speaking during a meeting with Opposition Leader Alfred Sant, Mr Vella said the UHM has a strong interest in the educational sector, as there is a strong link between education and the country’s success.

Dr Sant said that the Labour Party is seriously concerned about the country’s illiteracy rate and with the poor results being achieved in the areas of science and technology. He said the Labour party remains committed to increasing investment in

education when it takes over government.
