Artist Luciano Micallef will give a public presentation about his works on exhibition at Bank of Valletta’s upcoming 15th retrospective exhibition.
During his presentation, the artist will outline the stages of his career and how his work has evolved over the years with direct reference to the various exhibits.
“I will explain that painting is a pretext to dealing with issues that have nothing to do with art or painting,” explained Mr Micallef.
“I have held similar presentations in my gallery because I am a strong believer that the public needs to understand the intellectual processes of art and that the artist should share his knowledge, experience and explain his intentions.”
Mr Micallef’s retrospective exhibition at the new BOV Centre in Santa Venera consists of 65 works.
The media and techniques range from oils, acrylics, gouache and pastels, to etchings, lino prints, screen-printing and to the use of copper, stainless steel and plastic.
BOV Head of PR Michael Galea said, “we are very eager to host this event at the BOV Center since this will be the first time that such a presentation will be delivered by the artist himself.”
The presentation is open to the public and will be held on Friday 7 July at 6.30pm at the BOV Centre in Santa Venera.
