Tenor Joseph Calleja paid a visit to the site of his 8 July grand concert at Fort Manoel. Mr Calleja was met by Albert Mizzi and Ben Muscat, Chairman and CEO of MIDI plc, the main sponsors of the concert. In attendance were Anton Tabone LL.D and Amabile Zammit, Directors of Renaissance Productions Ltd, organisers of the event.
Final logistical preparations are in full swing for this event which is expected to draw the biggest crowd ever for a classical music concert in Malta, with over 3,000 tickets sold.
“Joseph’s ever-growing popularity in Malta and overseas, the seasoned talents of soprano Tatiana Lisnic, mezzo-soprano Elena Lisnic, baritone Vittorio Vitelli together with those of the exclusive Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the majestic venue of Fort Manoel have resulted in a complete sell-out.,” stated Dr Tabone and Mr Zammit of RPL.
Mr Mizzi said that the consortium is proud that Renaissance Productions and Joseph Calleja chose Fort Manoel to organise such a prestigious concert. “Once again a renowned artist has selected to perform at the spectacular venue of Fort Manoel, where MIDI is currently undertaking an intensive restoration programme. Once works to the fort are complete we have plans to host major world class events on an annual basis here and these will help place both Manoel Island and Malta itself on the international cultural calendar.”
Renaissance Productions Ltd (RPL) issued a statement advising the public attending the Joseph Calleja Concert to be seated by 8.45pm, 15 minutes before the concert commences.
Due to limited parking facilities and for the comfort of the public, RPL will be organising a shuttle service from Manoel Island Bridge and various parking areas at Manoel Island right up to the concert venue. Moreover, in order to avoid traffic congestion on the night, it would be advisable to car pool if possible.
MIDI plc are also sponsors of the first-ever Malta International Fashion Show, which will be held at Fort Manoel on 15 July. Also organised by Renaissance Productions Ltd, this international celebration of fashion will be broadcast on the Italian satellite channel TV MODA.
