The Malta Resources Authority in collaboration with the University of Catania and the Water Services Corporation is hosting a workshop on treated sewage effluent tomorrow at St James Cavalier, Valletta.
The workshop is titled “Existing potential for the re-used of Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) and is held under the Inwaterman project. The project aims to investigate the sustainable management of conventional and non-conventional water resources in arid and semi-arid insular settings.
This project is part-funded by the European Union Community Initiative Interreg IIIA, Italia-Malta Programme under the Structural Funds Programme for Malta 2004-2006.
The workshop will be launched by the Resources and Infrastructure Minister Ninu Zammit and addressed by Maltese and Sicilian experts.
It will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss the potential and constraints for the utilisation of treated effluent in the various economic sectors in Malta.
Experience with the use of the TSE will be presented by the Sicilian partners, namely the Facolt’ d’Agraria of the University of Catania and the Consiglio di Bonifica of Ragusa.
