None of the employees in the Refugees Commission has TB, the Department of Information said yesterday.
In a statement, the DOI said that although there were several individuals who showed signs of latent TB – which is not contagious – they had received the necessary medical attention.
The DOI statement referred to an article carried in The Malta Independent last Sunday, entitled Refugee Commission workers contracted TB from immigrants in detention centres.
High-level talks are held between the Justice and Home Affairs Ministry and the Health Ministry to safeguard the health of employees at the Refugee Commission, Appeals Board and detention centres.
