Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi recently inaugurated a new extension at Limestone Heritage comprising an auditorium and a multi-functional hall, with the capacity of hosting 200 patrons every 15 minutes.
This addition to the existing complex is the result of a constant increase in visitors year after year. In the last six months there was an impressive increase of 45 per cent.
Limestone Heritage is a unique centre where visitors, through the site itself, which is a disused quarry where many original displays and the various dioramas are mounted, can experience the glory and the hardships of Malta's heritage in stone as it developed throughout the millennia.
"We have welcomed patrons from all over the world, as well as many residents, including thousands of schoolchildren who, in the company of our mascot Malithos, have learnt to appreciate the achievements and the sacrifices of their forefathers," Anne Marie Baldacchino was quoted as saying.
During the reception, the guests were entertained to an evening of classical music by Mrs Brian Cefai and Stephanie De Giorgio, followed by an impressive pyrotechnic display that lit up Siggiewi's graceful skyline.
