Unexpected Jamming session

Malta Independent Monday, 17 July 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

BJ's nightclub clientele were treated to an unexpected musical highlight on Tuesday evening when two of Roger Waters' band members – saxophonist Ian Ritchie and Waters' son who is also his Hammond player, Harry Waters – walked into the popular live music and jazz club unannounced for a jam session.

BJ's Philip Fenech had extended an invitation to Waters' musicians to come down to the club but was unsure as to whether the invite would have been taken up.

The pair was joined by Paul Giordamaina and other local musicians for what turned out to be an extraordinary jam session the night after Roger Waters astounded fans at the Luxol grounds.

Ritchie, being a true jazz musician, loves to jam and leads his own jazz band – The Soho Jazz Project, which will be performing at the Malta Jazz Festival this coming Sunday.
