The Malta Labour Party yesterday condemned what it termed the fascist and anti-democratic leadership of the Nationalist Party.
The MLP said that no PN officials were present at the national protest against the new development boundaries held last Wednesday. The lack of PN officials starkly contrasted with the presence of the PN president Victor Scerri and PN parliamentary group representative on the Mepa board Joe Falzon in the 11 June protest, said the MLP.
Labour said it was a pity that PN officials and members were not allowed to air their views freely because of a party imposed boycott. “It is a shame that the fascist style of the party leadership is stifling individual opinions within it,” said the MLP statement.
As representatives of the people of Malta and Gozo, the MLP asked what difference there was between last Wednesday’s and the 11 June protests. The MLP invited PN to openly say whether it was representing the national interests or those of “friends of friends”.
