Anti-poverty campaigner and rock star Sir Bob Geldof travelled on Air Malta’s flight KM 103 from Heathrow to perform at the Live YMCA Music Festival on Manoel Island last month. The concert raised funds for YMCA (Valletta).

Tribute bands of U2, Queen and Coldplay popularly known as New 2, Killer Queen and Coldplace, who also performed at the concert, travelled on Air Malta from the UK. Together with local bands Winter Moods, Ira Losco and Carrie & Band, they supported Bob Geldof during the concert.

Sir Bob has become a leading figure in various campaigns for trade relief, debt reform and helping developing countries. He is the creator of the Live Aid and Live 8 concerts that have raised funds and awareness on these issues. Sir Bob has pledged his support to YMCA, and the Malta event aimed to raise awareness on the plight of the homeless on the islands.
