A number of foreigners are assisting the police in their investigation into the death of a 17-year-old Russian girl in Paceville.
The girl, identified as Aleksandra Payopsa after the police published a photo of her, was found unconscious on the stairwell of an apartment block in Paceville on Tuesday.
A post-mortem examination held yesterday determined that the girl died from pulmonary edema – swelling and/or fluid accumulation in the lungs.
This condition can lead to respiratory failure. The cause of the pulmonary edema will be ascertained when the toxicology tests are completed.
No signs of violence were found on the girl, although some media reports have suggested that she may have been using drugs.
