BA Attacks low cost with up to 70 per cent cuts

Malta Independent Sunday, 30 July 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

British Airways has unleashed an all-out war on low cost airlines by announcing cuts of up to 70 per cent in its prices for flights from all over Europe to Gatwick. This decision affects 30 routes including flights to Turin, Verona, Venice, Bologna, Pisa Naples and Catania.

This initiative comes three months after the launch of the new tariffs, which introduced the possibility of booking single flights and to change the bookings even on the eve of departure.

“We are determined,” said Mark Moscardini, British Airways commercial manager for Italy and Malta, “to see British Airways become the first choice of passengers who choose only on the basis of what the price of the ticket is and who want to get a complete service at a low cost flight price.”
