BOV Streets Alive Initiative

Malta Independent Monday, 31 July 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

The main streets of Valletta came to life last Friday with a range of exciting and varied activities that form part of the BOV Streets Alive initiative.

BOV Streets Alive has been designed to continue to give Valletta its due and proper place on the local scene as an ideal location for evening leisure, as a cultural hub, as an inspirational city, and as a historic city wherein European history was forged. This initiative aims to do this by creating synergies between the arts, leisure and business activities in the city.

BOV Streets Alive is being organised by the Valletta Alive Foundation in association with Bank of Valletta on four consecutive Friday evenings, with the first one being held last Friday.

Events start at 6.30pm and carry on till 9pm. Last Friday’s programme of events, which were concentrated around Republic Street and Merchants Street, included street musicians and live bands, spontaneous painting sessions, a Disney show for children, a classic car display, a karate exhibition, a table-tennis tournament and walk-about tours. Museums were also open later than usual.
