Malta Independent Tuesday, 1 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

A group of fourth form students from De La Salle College have taken part in an exchange with German students, through a European-funded Comenius language project.

The Maltese students, numbering 14 in all, spent two weeks in Munich. The visit was the culmination of work carried out throughout the scholastic year on a project entitled The Value of Glass and Limestone. The German students spent a fortnight in Malta in April.

The students attended Carl-von-Linde-Realschule and visited many interesting places such as Skyline Park, The Olympic Centre, Oberammergau, the Nymphenburg Palace, and the Bavaria Filmstadt.

The members of staff at De La Salle who assisted the students said that from an educational point of view, it was very evident that such experiences truly enhance language learning as well as the students’ social skills.

The accompanying teachers said that the Maltese teenagers had been excellent ambassadors and it had been a good opportunity for the teachers to discuss professional issues with their counterparts in Germany.
