Kids Have more fun on Emirates

Malta Independent Wednesday, 9 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Children will now be kept happy on summer flights with Emirates’ extended choice in in-flight entertainment. Children’s programming on Emirates includes a wide selection of Disney films, a host of children’s TV programming and a broad range of in-flight games ideal for keeping young travellers occupied and content for the entire journey.

All Emirates flights, including the Dubai-Larnaca-Malta flight, have recently enjoyed in-flight entertainment enhancements ensuring that young people have more choice. The enhancements apply to all flights on Emirates – both short trips and long-haul journeys, many of which are now equipped with Emirates’ latest in-flight entertainment system, ice.

During August and September, Disney films on-board include The Incredibles and Brother Bear. There are 25 Disney classics on ice equipped aircraft, including hits such as Dumbo, The Lady and the Tramp and The Lion King. Ice also features more great entertainment for young fliers, with over 50 children’s TV episodes.

Over 50 interactive games covering classic arcade games, multi-player trivia and children’s games suitable for a variety of ages and skill levels are also available on every flight. A number of games offer a multi-player function, providing travellers with the option of competing with their travel-mates.

Emirates also provides special slightly smaller child-sized headsets for younger passengers, that are more comfortable, and nutritious meals for children packaged in brightly coloured, leak-proof boxes. Meal boxes are a hit with children and include a toy, a watch and other little sundries that keep them occupied during the flight. These meals can be booked 24 hours before departure.

Emirates Divisional Senior vice-president of corporate communications Mike Simon said: “With the summer travel season here, Emirates takes special care to ensure that young travellers are comfortable and entertained on all journeys, but particularly long-haul flights where children are more likely to become restless. Our children’s programming has received terrific feedback from happy parents as well.”

Children’s programming constitutes a large part of Emirates’ award-winning in-flight entertainment. The carrier recently won Best In-flight Entertainment award at the recent 2006 World Airline Awards by Skytrax.

Emirates currently flies from Malta to Dubai four times weekly via Larnaca, Cyprus on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday on A330-200.
