Heritage Malta, through its National Museum of Fine Arts in South Street Valletta, is hosting an exhibition of paintings and drawings by the renowned Maltese painter Joseph Briffa (1901-1987).

Briffa had a long and fruitful career with a number of works in churches both in Malta and Gozo. After his death, his family presented a number of his works to the National Museum of Fine Arts.

These works, together with three other paintings which were purchased previously, are now being exhibited at the National Museum of Fine Arts. Admission to this exhibition is free of charge and the works will remain exhibited until 4 September.

Shortly afterwards, this exhibition will be mounted at Heritage Malta’s Gozo Area Office in the Citadel, Victoria.

A 30-page exhibition catalogue in full colour with a Foreword by the President of Malta and an original article by Dennis Vella, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the National Museum of Fine Arts, has been published by Heritage Malta and Midsea Books for the occasion.

The catalogue is on sale from the reception desk at the National Museum of Fine Arts and leading bookshops.

The National Museum of Fine Arts is open daily from 9am to 5pm. Last admission is at 4.30pm.
