Armed Hold-up in St Julian’s

Malta Independent Tuesday, 15 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

A considerable amount of cash was stolen yesterday morning in an armed hold-up in St George’s Road, St Julian’s, the police said yesterday.

Three hooded men, one of them carrying a firearm, stopped two employees who were on their way to deposit the money in a bank at around noon.

The men ran away with the money – in both local and foreign currencies – and made off in a car that was being driven by a fourth accomplice.

The car was found in Swieqi some time later, the police said. The two employees were unhurt.

Magistrate Dr Silvio Meli appointed several experts to help him draw up a report. The police are investigating.
