Malta Independent Sunday, 8 October 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

On Saturday, Carlo Diacono Girls’ Junior Lyceum, Zejtun, will be the first Maltese school to host a military tattoo band – the Concord Drum & Bugle Corps. The Corps will also be a prominent participant in the 2006 Malta Military Tattoo.

Headmistress Ms M Ciappara, who has organised the event, invites members of the public to attend the performance. Entrance is free of charge.

The tattoo, which starts at 10.30am, includes demonstrations on how the individual musical instruments are played and a full performance by the Corps in the school sports area. Later, members of the public will also have the chance to meet performers of the Corps informally and try out some of their instruments.

The Concord Drum & Bugle Corps, a volunteer, independent organisation based in Sheffield, has been performing for 22 years. The highest success achieved by its young performers has been winning the UK National Championships seven times. The Corps regularly takes part in various competitions both in the UK and abroad.
