Malta Independent Friday, 13 October 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Violinist Simon Vella will be performing at the EU4U Information Roadshow at Freedom Square, Valletta, tomorrow.

Simon’s fresh and lively performance will be starting at 9.30pm. He will entertain visitors to the EU4U roadshow, taking the audience through popular and classical tunes and a selection of original pieces.

Simon Vella is a contemporary violinist who, having studied classical violin, is now aiming to change the perception of the conventional instrument to a versatile, modern and electrical one. For a number of years he has been experimenting with new compositions and adaptations of popular classical songs and has created a style of his own that can be described as a fusion of various styles ranging from classical and jazz to hip-hop and dance.

The EU4U Information Roadshow is aimed at creating awareness among the Maltese public on the EU Structural Funds, the projects that are currently underway and the benefits that people in various sectors are reaping.

The Valletta roadshow will be focusing on projects related to the environment. The environment is merely one of the sectors reaping benefits from EU Structural Funds which aim to generate economic growth as well as to provide adequate infrastructure leading to a better quality of life for Maltese citizens in the long-term perspective.

The information exhibition opened last Tuesday and closes on Sunday. Opening times for the roadshow are 7.30am to 7.30pm. The roadshow will remain open overnight on the night of Valletta’s Lejl Imdawwal.
