An overview on the production of purely Maltese wines, tips on wine-tasting techniques and the actual tasting of different varieties of wines namely the Palatino, Laurenti and the Zeppi’s range of liqueurs were all part of a tasting event hosted by Camilleri Wines for German environmental society F.E.E. hailing from Minden in Germany at the Limestone Heritage.
During its visit to Malta, the German environmental group donated a pick-up van and an arboricultural machine to the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment. Over the past 15 years, F.E.E. has donated a number of vehicles and agricultural equipment for tree-related and agricultural projects in Malta and Gozo.
During their cultural visit at Limestone Heritage, the group was treated to a taste of Maltese culture where they were taken on an audio-visual tour through the history of stone masonry in Malta, rounded off with a tasting session by Camilleri Wines complete with a lavish buffet of typical Maltese delicacies.
“This initiative turned out to be a very original way of treating special guests to something different from the usual tourist destinations by providing them with a true taste of Maltese character,” said Josef Bonello, wine advisor at Camilleri Wines, while conducted the wine-tasting event. “Besides welcoming this initiative and reacting positively both to the wines and to our actual efforts to promote Malta’s genuine products, all members of the group were surprised at what our local wine industry has to offer. Comments about the wines were extremely positive and this makes us proud of the level of quality we have reached with our wines.”
Throughout its visit to Malta, the group also had the opportunity to visit the President’s palace and gardens at Verdala.
