A Libyan man was yesterday charged with defrauding a Maltese man and misappropriating Lm7,400 between July and December this year.

Ali Abdalla Elbackush, 42, from Valletta, was accused of defrauding Patrick Pace of Lm7,400.

Before Magistrate Antonio Vella, the Libyan pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm5,000.

Police Inspector Kevin Borg prosecuted while Dr Franco Debono appeared for the defendant.
