During this period, when a lot of people are considering what presents to buy for Christmas, Moviment Graffitti would like to invite people not to purchase products that contain fur, as this would mean accepting

cruelty to animals.

Coats, and other products made of fur, are not items of necessity, or something we cannot do without. But because of greed and vanity, this industry is leaving large numbers of innocent animals murdered by atrocious methods, says the organisation. Among the millions of animals killed every year, 40 million are killed specifically for the fur trade.

Moviment Graffitti said: “Some of the animals that are captured in their natural environment have to stay entrapped for days, with the consequence that they tear their paws or legs in an effort to escape. Others are bred in farms for their fur when they reach a certain age. The killing of these animals can happen in various ways, such as being poisoned, strangled, having their necks broken or even electrocuted. It must also be said that these methods are not one hundred per cent effective, with the result that sometimes the animal is still alive while it is skinned.”

Moviment Graffitti considers it a pity that what was once a fox, a bear or any other animal, becomes a fur coat that serves the vanity of a person.

Sometimes up to 200 animals are killed to make just one fur coat, and this all becomes even sadder when considering that synthetic fur is identical to real fur, with the only difference that no cruelty to animals is involved.

Moviment Graffitti therefore condemns this industry based on cruelty and says that these things should never be justified or permitted. It strongly believes that using fur is murder, and anyone buying fur-products is an

accomplice.
