Court: Two Brothers charged with drug and other offences

Two brothers were arraigned separately in court yesterday on various charges of trafficking and being in possession of heroin and cocaine.

Antoine Spiteri, 29, from Marsascala, pleaded not guilty to trafficking and being in possession of heroin and cocaine.

Mr Spiteri, appearing before presiding magistrate Silvio Meli, also denied being in possession of heroin that was found in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use.

He also pleaded not guilty to committing the crimes within 100 metres of a school and with relapsing.

Godwin Spiteri, 41 from Birgu, also before magistrate Silvio Meli, denied being in possession of heroin and cocaine that was found in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use.

He was also charged with money laundering, being in possession of an unlicenced firearm and relapsing.

Police inspectors Victor Aquilina and Pierre Grech prosecuted.

Dr Franco Debono appeared for Antoine Spiteri and Dr Robert Abela appeared for Godwin Spiteri.
