Maltacom Supports RTK charity campaigns

Malta Independent Thursday, 21 December 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Maltacom is once again giving its full support to RTK’s Christmas campaigns in aid of people most in need. This year, Maltacom will be increasing its support even more by waiving all call charges related to donations made by telephone.

A phone-in system was recently installed by Maltacom at the RTK studios in Blata l-Bajda which will, as usual ,serve as the hub for activities concerned with both charity campaigns. The system will enable members of the public to pledge their donations via a telephone call to an indicated number. Telephone calls coming in via Maltacom’s network invariably guarantee the success of not only the RTK but also of a high percentage of fund-raising campaigns organised by philanthropic and other organisations including political parties.

The first of the two RTK campaigns targeting various charities – principally children’s homes and refugees – began earlier this week. Maltacom officials visited the RTK studios to present various mobile phones and go mobile top-up cards to be used during the competitions in connection with phone-ins.

“Maltacom is determined to maintain its responsibility towards the community in which it operates,” said Maria Jourdan, from Maltacom’s Communications Office, during the presentation.

“Maltacom is committed to supporting reputable national and philanthropic organisations in their projects focused on improving the quality of life for people with social and other needs. Giving our full support to initiatives such as the RTK fund-

raising campaigns at Christmas time is an integral element of Maltacom’s corporate social responsibility programme,” she said.

RTK programmes manager Tonio Bonello thanked Maltacom for its ongoing support and assistance, and made particular mention of the

dedication of the technical team involved in the actual installation of the phone-in lines. Mr Bonello went on to stress that the RTK Christmas charity campaigns ultimately depend on the generosity of the public and the support of companies such as Maltacom, with a strong social conscience.

Meanwhile, the second campaign aimed at raising funds for Dar tal-Providenza – the home for children and young adults with physical and mental disabilities – will begin later this month.

Maltacom will be making every effort to guarantee the success of both of these praiseworthy

campaigns.
