Sedqa’s Christmas Campaign against alcohol abuse

Malta Independent Friday, 22 December 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

Sedqa, the Agency Against Drug and Alcohol Abuse, is extending its multi-media campaign related to alcohol abuse, this time emphasising the aspect of the responsibility of our actions, especially when in the presence of children. Alcohol abuse-related campaigns have become regular for the agency’s agenda, and the aim of the campaigns is to raise questions and awareness about this delicate subject.

The campaign, entitled “Ir-Responsabbilta` hija taghna lkoll” (“The Responsibility is Ours”), is a continuation of this year’s campaign which started in June. This phase of the campaign is divided into two main sections. The first, which is aimed primarily at parents, includes a Public Service Announcement for television targeting parents, and accentuates the idea that children are learning from their parents’ behaviour all the time. It portrays a parent being mimicked by his young daughter in all his actions. This emphasises the influence of parents’ behaviour on their children.

The second component of this phase of the campaign, is aimed at young people. It aims to raise awareness about sensible drinking, and gives the advice to: “enjoy life… enjoy life and whatever you do, just know your limits. Be sensible to yourself and towards others”. This includes 3 Public Service Announcements for radio, which are currently being aired on a number of radio stations.

Agenzija Sedqa wants to take this opportunity to notify that the agency will not be sponsoring any end-of-year parties and get-togethers during the festive season.
