Benjaminu, the notorious bandit from Syracuse, has his revenge on Makarju and his family for the murder of his parents. He does this after the constant pressure exerted on him by Nikodemu and Clary, who raised him after his parents’ death. Benjaminu’s vengeance brought much misery on his victims, who either lost their loved ones to the ruthless slave traders, or had to face banishment from their homeland.
