On the occasion of the liturgical feast of St Catherine of Alexandria, the Zejtun Band presented its annual concert at the club’s theatre in Zejtun, Pandora.
The band, under the direction of its new band master Mro Raymond Zammit, presented a modern and varied programme that included Olympic Fanfare by John Williams, Thunder & Lightning by Johann Strauss, Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance, Frans Von Suppe’s Light Cavalry and James Horner’s Mask of Zorro.
The event also introduced Zejtun Band music teachers Charles Pace and Emmanuel Fenech, who were the soloists in Mozart’s Adagio in Bb Clarinet and C.W. Payne’s Cool Breeze respectively.
The musical highlight was a new composition by Mro. Zammit entitled Five short pieces, inspired by the different stages of human life.
This successful and well-patronised concert was compered by Charles Abela Mizzi.
