A woman was charged yesterday with trafficking and possessing heroin at the Corradino Correctional Facility in May 2005 when she was allegedly caught trying to smuggle the drug into prison.
Grace Cini, 34, from St Paul’s Bay, was allegedly caught trying to smuggle heroin into prison on 14 May 2005. The heroin was allegedly found in one of the side pockets of her handbag in which she was carrying food for an acquaintance who was in prison.
Apart from drug trafficking, the Ms Cini was also charged with being in possession of an amount of heroin that was found in circumstances denoting it was not for her personal use.
Before magistrate Lawrence Quintano, Ms Cini pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against her.
Police Inspector Pierre Grech prosecuted and Dr Franco Debono appeared for the accused.
