Karting: National Mini Moto Championship attracts large crowds

Sunday 7 January was a very busy day indeed at the Badger Raceway.

In the morning the Mini Moto Championship attracted a large crowd underlining the fact that this sport is well supported. Two classes were scheduled to race on the day with Johann Borg taking top spot on the podium while competing in Class B with Clifton Borg and Silvio Cassar taking second and third places respectively. Class A once again saw Jethro Sant taking the honors with Michael Naudi finishing second and Kevin Borg in third.

Another round of races is scheduled for next Sunday 14th January at 9.30am.

On the same day in the evening the 5th meeting of the season from the Melita Digital National 4 stroke Karting league took place at Badger raceway.

The first race on the program included drivers from the bottom half of the overall standings, Alan Curmi was in top form as he led the race from start to finish to claim his first win of the season, he was followed closely by Mario Micallef who finished second and Michael Debattista in third.

The second race pitted the top half of the standings against each other; this race definitely did not disappoint the numerous spectators present.

Justin Agius started from pole after a blistering qualifying session. Agius led for most of the race followed closely by Zack Zammit, Andrea Frendo and Matthew Ciappara. In the later stages of the race Agius buckled under pressure from Zammit who managed to take the led and claim his third win of the season. Agius finished 2nd and Frendo came 3rd.
