Car park attendants have been left in the dark over their future and how the planned accessibility project for Valletta will affect their interests, the Union Haddiema Maghqudin said yesterday.
In a statement, the union said it had not received any word from the authorities.
The UHM’s manufacturing and services section, which represents their interests, said it had held talks with the transport authority (ADT) and the Urban Development and Roads Ministry but had not been informed of any developments.
The ADT has issued three new permits for car park attendants in other localities, the UHM said, even though there is an agreement that no new permits will be issued before the Valletta issue is resolved.
Unless the matter is resolved, the UHM said it would have no other option but to take action to safeguard the attendants’ interests.
