Music: Lynn Faure Returns with new single

Malta Independent Wednesday, 17 January 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Popular Maltese singer/songwriter Lynn Faure is marking her return to the music scene with a new self-penned single, Came Back. It may seem to some like she’s been away for ages but, in truth, Lynn has never actually stopped, and along with husband Antoine (of Characters and Red House fame) she performs regularly in various locations all over the island. Furthermore, she has been dedicating a lot of her time to television production, her most recent being the popular magazine programme 22pm on TVM. Lynn readily concedes that due to her hectic TV schedule, she has neglected her public profile (from a musical perspective) but she feels very strongly that this new single is a step in the right direction towards re-establishing herself on the scene.

Lynn’s passion for music stretches all the way back to her childhood, and with the support of her family she has continued to nurture her talent over the years. In fact, apart from her pop alter ego, Lynn is also an accomplished classical pianist with vibrant vision, as anyone who saw her perform at Teatru Unplugged a few years back will surely agree. And may I add that this was even before she had won the Malta Song Festival!

Going back to her new single, it’s difficult not to admire Came Back’s simple yet effective arrangement. It is a pop ballad by all means, but one brimming with emotion and enough commercial gleam to appeal to a broad audience – its balance of voice and piano giving the song a distinct personal character. The single also features another new original composition, 4U, fashioned from the same cloth as Came Back but with extra pop sheen! For more information about Lynn Faure, visit www.lynnfaure.com
