The Journalists Ethics Commission has reprimanded Il-Mument editor Victor Camilleri and journalist Jean-Pierre Debono for not correcting a report after being told it was unfounded.
The commission, chaired by Chief Justice Emeritus Giuseppe Mifsud Bonnici, referred to a 12 November report which said Labour’s international secretary, Joe Mifsud, had given an interview to the Dubai newspaper Khaley Times.
That same day Dr Mifsud sent an e-mail to both of them saying he had not given any interview to the newspaper. However, neither the newspaper nor the journalist had ever retracted the report.
