With a fresh new appearance and innovative technologies, a distinctive radiator grille and striking headlights, plus redesigned rear lights and bumper, this popular seven-seat MPV combines generous space with outstanding safety. The inside of the classy cabin is designed to make your family journeys more enjoyable. New fabrics and stainless steel trim, semi-automatic air conditioning and the two 12-volt sockets, ideal for electronic games, will certainly keep the kids happy with every journey.
The latest Touran is the first Volkswagen with ParkAssist, an optional parking guidance system developed by Volkswagen engineers. ParkAssist enables automatic parking, using front and rear ultrasonic sensors to detect available parking space and a control unit to calculate the ideal manoeuvring path. Acoustic and visual displays guide the driver to the correct parking start position, then once reverse gear is selected the car parks itself in less than 15 seconds. All the driver has to do in this time is accelerate and brake – the Touran does all the steering! Storage solutions have increased to incorporate roof mounted boxes, door pockets, central armrest with concealed boxes underneath, bottle holders for the second row, elasticated pockets in the back of the front seats and the third row has side binnacles. The seats are easy to operate – pulling at tags causes the second row to tumble and fold, granting access to the rearmost seats that in turn fold flush into the floor to maximise load space. With all seven seats in place there is still enough room for essential shopping.
The Touran model line-up consists of three packages: conceptline, trendline and highline. Engines have been rationalised to include a choice of two petrol engines, including Volkswagen’s groundbreaking TSI unit, and four diesel choices. These will be a 1.6-litre 102 PS and 1.4-litre 140 PS TSI, and a 1.9-litre 90 and 105 PS TDI, plus a 2.0-litre 140 and a 170 PS, the latter with DPF (diesel particulate filter).
