The Union Haddiema Maghqudin suspended its industrial action directives at Maltapost after the management withdrew the proposals it had submitted for a new collective agreement, the UHM said in a statement.

The proposals were withdrawn during a meeting in the presence of the Director of Employment and Industrial Relations.

The two sides will be meeting again tomorrow to continue negotiations on the collective agreement. The UHM said it is satisfied with the workers’ response to the directives.

In a statement, Maltapost said that after the conciliation meeting, both parties agreed to a way forward and consequently, the strike action ordered yesterday by the UHM was withdrawn.

The postal service was back to normal at 10am when all employees resumed their duties thus ensuring minimal impact to the company’s operation. Maltapost regretted any inconvenience this might have caused to its customers.
