A man was yesterday charged with being in possession of around 700 counterfeit CDs and DVDs in April 2006 and before.

Richard Mercieca, 39, from Iklin, was charged with possessing the fake items in Birkirkara and with breaching copyright laws. He was also charged with relapsing.

Before Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona, Mr Mercieca pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

Police Inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted while Dr Roberto Montalto appeared for the accused.
