The police have discovered a little less than a kilogramme of cocaine in an apartment in St Julian’s after they noticed suspicious movements by some people in the area.

A 22-year-old Maltese man from Pieta’ and an Italian 25-year-old man were arrested after the police saw them coming out of the apartment where the raid was carried out late on Thursday night.

The police said they had been investigating a drug trafficking case; they had been following suspicious movements in the area around the apartment and then stopped the two men who emerged from it.

Duty Magistrate Michael Mallia appointed various experts to assist in the inquiry.
