A maisonette and its underlying garage that were illegally being used as offices and as a workshop/commercial store in Triq il-Ghajn, Swieqi have been reverted back to a residential dwelling, the Malta Environment and Planning Authority said yesterday.

Mepa officers, through an enforcement notice, had notified the owner to stop the illegal use of these premises. According to law, an enforcement notice obliges the contravener to revert the site to its former state, in this case a residential dwelling.

The authority, on receiving further reports that the illegal use of these premises was still ongoing, gave the owner a finally warning prior to having the premises sealed off.

Within two days, the person responsible undertook to revert the premises to a residential dwelling by ceasing all activities and removing all furniture and other non-domestic material.
