A man was yesterday jailed for 18 months suspended for three years after pleading guilty to failing to pay another man Lm500 for a Ford Escort he had purchased from him.

Carmelo Borda, 39, from Birkirkara, pleaded guilty to not paying the money he owed the man. Magistrate Saviour Demicoli handed down his suspended sentence and ordered Borda to pay the victim the Lm500 he owed him within six months.

Police Inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted while Dr Martin Fenech appeared for the accused.
