An owner of a sub-post office was yesterday jailed for 18 months suspended for two years after pleading guilty to stealing around Lm20 of items including stamps, to the detriment of Maltapost.
Before magistrate Saviour Demicoli, Salvatore Pace, 45, from Siggiewi, pleaded guilty to stealing several items belonging to Maltapost on 18 September last year.
After considering his police record, and that he had cooperated with the police, the magistrate jailed him for 18 months suspended for two years.
Police Inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted while Dr Martin Fenech appeared for the accused.
