The new year is turning out to be a busy one for Dr Robert Wineburg, Jefferson Pilot Excellence Professor in the Department of Social Work at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

In addition to having a new book out, Dr Wineburg will travel to the University of Malta as a Fulbright Senior Specialist; study how best to use the resources of the religious community in Wilmington, Del., courtesy of a $112,000 contract; and take 15-20 students to Costa Rica for a six-credit Spanish immersion/social work experience during the first summer session.

He will be in Malta from 1 to 15 March to help with curriculum and internship development in the university’s new master’s degree in social work programme. He will also visit for three weeks in February 2008.

His experience developing new programmes includes helping lay the groundwork for the Centre for New North Carolinians in UNCG’s School of Human Environmental Sciences. He will work to arrange for scholars from Malta to visit that innovative centre.
