The Institute of Education (EIE) seeks to give the best service to those students following its post-graduate courses with University of Leicester and European University.

In order to add value to the tuition offered, it invites various Maltese and international speakers from various industries to enhance the theoretical knowledge acquired by the students and how this could be adopted into the day-to-day operations of an organisation. With this aim, since the beginning of the academic year in October 2006, EIE invited four speakers two of which are Maltese and two others are international.

Rosanne Camilleri who is a management consultant with the Department of Health, Policy and Planning explained how a strategic plan was formulated on the conversion of the new units that will start operating at Mater Dei Hospital and how this is being implemented.

The second seminar was conducted by George Micallef, who is a freelance tourism advisor with the present minister of tourism. The seminar focused on a discussion talk on product development issues, accommodation development, coastal development and tourism strategic planning. Mr Micallef also briefed the students on his advisory experiences to governments of other countries.

The third guest speaker was Sara Falconi who holds a Masters degree in Conservation and Management of Cultural Heritage (European Master, Venezia-Siena-Cassino-Caen-Salamanca).

Ms Falconi is a consultant on how cultural events and concepts are implemented creatively. She has created and implemented the sistema museo in Italy and co-ordinated the market research in St James Cavalier. She is also collaborating on the activities of the Valletta Alive Foundation which is the organisation which plans the enhancement of Valletta’s cultural life.

The fourth seminar was addressed by Dr Martin Coffey, professor with the School of Psychology at the University of Leicester who met the MSc Occupational Psychology students. Dr Coffey congratulated the EIE for the satisfactory work being done in Malta with reference to both student enrolments and the qualitative work submitted by the students.
