The First Hall of the Civil Court has held a man responsible for a traffic accident involving a postman who was driving a Maltapost vehicle.
Maltapost employee Aldo Sciberras was awarded Lm17,360 after the court heard he was admitted to hospital following a traffic accident while on duty in Mellieha on 11 March 1999.
The other person involved in the accident, Anthony Abela, had his Range Rover parked and made a u-turn as Mr Sciberras drove past. The Maltapost employee had tried avoiding the Range Rover, but the two vehicles collided and the postman had to be admitted to hospital.
Following evaluation of the case, Mr Justice Gino Camilleri ordered that Mr Abela was the sole person responsible for the accident and he was ordered to pay Mr Sciberras Lm17,360.
