A 22-year-old man was yesterday charged with stealing a car to get from St Julian’s to Fgura and then failing to stop at a vehicle check point carried out by the police in June last year.
Kenneth Tabone from Fgura admitted to having committed this offence in St Julian’s on the night between 28 and 29 June last year. He also pleaded guilty to breaching conditions imposed by a court last May. However he pleaded not guilty to reckless driving on the same night when he was allegedly being chased by the police. The case was put off for judgement, since the defence and prosecution still have evidence to present.
Magistrate Lawrence Quintano presided over the court.
Police Inspector Michael Mallia prosecuted, while Dr Albert Libreri appeared for the accused.
