Missing Teenager since 26 November: Search operation yields no results

Malta Independent Thursday, 8 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The search operation for 18-year-old Christian Camilleri who has been missing since 26 November last year was suspended yesterday afternoon as another day exploring pipes which will be used to extract gasses from the Maghtab landfill yielded no results.

Members of the Civil Protection Department and members of the police homicide squad started their search at 9am yesterday morning in the metre-high pipes at the landfill. The search was conducted using fibre optic cameras. The search was called off at around 4pm, yielding no results.

Mr Camilleri disappeared after he had a minor collision with his Freelander on 26 November on the Coast Road. Soon after, his parents were on the scene but Mr Camilleri told them that he was going to walk it home to Wardija. When he did not turn up at home, his parents lodged a police report.

The police are not excluding that Mr Camilleri might have been murdered although the motive has not yet been established.
