GWU Appeals to MUBE to support proposal

Malta Independent Tuesday, 13 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The General Workers’ Union (GWU) has appealed to the Malta Union of Bank Employees (MUBE) to support its proposal for the joint participation of both unions in negotiations with the Bank of Valletta.

The GWU issued a statement to clarify its position on the matter. It said it had made a series of proposals in the common interest of bank employees. These include a proposal for both unions to take part jointly in negotiations with the Bank of Valletta management, since neither of them represents more than 50 per cent of BOV employees.

The union said it was surprising that the MUBE was finding it hard to agree to this proposal. It said it had received positive reactions from BOV employees about it.

The GWU also appealed to the MUBE to support the proposal made by the union’s professional, financial and services section.
