A 17-year-old was yesterday accused of seriously injuring a man after firing a shotgun in his direction.

The accused, who cannot be named as he is still a minor, pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Aserom Belayterlit at 4.30am on 9 February in Marsa.

He was also charged, together with Raymond Magri, 47, with firing a weapon in an inhabited area and carrying an unlicensed weapon and ammunition. Raymond Magri alone was charged with relapsing.

Both accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail on condition of house arrest against a deposit of Lm1,000 and a personal guarantee of Lm5,000 each.

Police Inspectors Michael Mallia and Alfred Mallia prosecuted while Dr Joe Giglio appeared for the defendants.
