An industrial tribunal yesterday ordered a company to pay Lm700 in compensation to a former employee for unfair dismissal.
Ramon Zerafa put forward the complaint against Kemimport Limited, claiming that he had never been given any warnings but was fired on the spot after an argument with one of the directors.
The tribunal, presided over by Dr Martin Fenech, heard out both parties and said that there were discrepancies in the defendants’ version of events. For this reason, the tribunal leaned towards Mr Zerafa’s version and ruled in his favour. The company was ordered to pay out Lm700 in damages.
