A woman and a 15-year-old boy yesterday appeared in court to answer charges of theft.

Charmaine Bezzina, 27, from Senglea and the youth pleaded guilty to stealing diesel from a car in Hamrun on 13 February at 2.15am. Bezzina was also charged with relapsing in view of previous convictions.

The court, presided over by Magistrate Audrey Demicoli conditionally discharged the youth for one year and handed Bezzina a one-year jail term suspended for two years. She was also placed under the supervision of a probation officer for a period of one year. Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted while Dr Martin Fenech appeared for the accused.
